Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
One of the best linebackers in the state, Whitehall High School senior Sawyer Keener will be continuing his football career at the University of Montana Western.
Keener signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bulldogs last Thursday in front of family, friends, coaches and teammates.
"Signing to play at the next level is a dream come true. I love football to death and have always dreamed about myself signing to play college ball. It's a grateful feeling knowing that hard work pays off. I can't wait to continue to work even harder at the next level," Keener said.
After leading the Trojans in tackles during his junior season, Keener had his senior season come to an end early after suffering a knee injury. Despite the injury, he still led the team in tackles during the 2018 season.
Kenner is very excited to get back onto the field.
"I didn't want to end my football career like that with an injury. I've been 'hungry' to get back on the field since the injury," he said. "It is really tough when something you are so passionate is taken away from you. I am continuing to work harder and harder each day, just to get those pads back on."
