Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

County Commmission Update

Hi Folks

We didn't have a regular meeting last week. I hope everyone had a very great Thanksgiving. Carole and I were able to go help with the free dinner at the Stageline Pizza on Thanksgiving Day. Event Coordinator, Bruce Binkowski and his wife Christina were also there.

Bruce helped promote the event and they had a great turnout. I think they served over 100 people. Bill Pullman also stopped by and spent a lot of time visiting with folks and getting pictures. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving, although I did miss the leftovers the next day.

I had a unique opportunity Monday afternoon to participate on a conference call with Region 1 Forester, Leanne Martin and 4 other folks to discuss criteria that she should be looking for when she hires a new B-D Forest Supervisor to replace Melanie Glossa.

Region 1 covers Northern Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and parts of South Dakota. Hopefully, we will get a Supervisor that is a strong leader, dedicated to working with local communities and groups, and willing to look outside the box to find solutions to some of the serious issues we are dealing with on Public Lands.

FYI: I attended a Railroad Safety training Monday morning. One of the interesting tidbits of information is that if someone does something that shuts the railroad down, it's $100,000 per hour.
