Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Bersanti Strozzi passed away peacefully at her home in Whitehall, MT on September 28, 2018. Betty was surrounded by her children Wayne, Sandy, Rick and Shawn. She was born in Butte Montana on August 19, 1931 to Kathryn Galetti Bersanti and Arthur Bersanti.
She lived in a little shack in Hail Columbia Gulch with her sister, mom and dad until she was 4 years old. Betty and her sister Rosann moved with their mother to her grandmothers ranch, Catherine Matamonia Galetti. Betty went to school in a one room school house near the ranch at Browns Gulch. Betty and Rosann moved to Basin Creek when their mother remarried in 1941. Betty attended St. Johns Catholic School and Butte High. She spent her Junior year in Long Beach, CA with her aunt, Mayme Miskovich, whom she dearly loved. Betty lived in Basin Creek until she married in 1951.
Betty met Bud (Floyd) Strozzi thru Bud's cousin Virginia while they were working at Hennessys in uptown Butte. After dating for a year they married on June 17, 1951. Betty and Bud spent their first year in a house in Meaderville and moved to the ranch of Buds parents Joe and Annie Strozzi in Whitehall, where they lived in a small house. They built a new home on the ranch and spent the next 30 years raising their family. Betty is survived by her children: Wayne (Judy) Strozzi; Sandy (Bill) House; Rick (Lori) Strozzi; Shawn (Kris) Strozzi; her sister Rosann (Jim) Fitzpatrick, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bud preceeded Betty in death in 2004 after 53 years of marriage.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Whitehall with Rev Bill Lanes officiating. Interment will follow at the Whitehall Cemetery. K&L Mortuaries is assisting with the arrangements.
