Delone E. Smith

Delone E. Smith passed away September 20th 2018 at St. James Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born September 22, 1939 to John and June (Hunt) Huber in Butte Montana. Growing up, she spent much time having fun with her cousins (Hunts) in Waterloo/Whitehall. She graduated with the Butte High Class of 57.

She worked for Metals Bank for some time and later married Ernest M. Smith of Butte in Butte Montana. She then traveled to the western part the states on construction jobs with her husband and later settle in Butte. She started working for H & R Block and stayed there for 30 years. She gained many friends over the years and loved what she did as a tax preparer.

She loved gardening and building rock walls and rock gardens. Her latest hobby was fairy gardens. She loved to throw hotdog roasts and had many parties. She was always in charge of the family reunions and the go to person for everything in the family. She was a great cook, canner, and pie maker. Her hobbies were many and she loved to paint. She went to school to learn how to paint the carousel horses and painted the Butte High Horse for her class that is currently on the carousel in Butte.

Delone is preceded in death by her parents John Huber, June (Hunt) Twomey, brother John Huber and sister Patty McCloud.

She is survived by her husband Ernest, sisters, Debbie Van Vleit, Diane Bloom, Janice Huber, Kristy Strozzi and brother Mark Caddell and son Ernest Smith Jr., daughter Pamela Kuehl, and grandsons Nathan and Justin Kuehl, Kevin Weyer, Mike Pedersen and granddaughter Maggie Pedersen and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be at the Methodist Church in Whitehall, MT. on Saturday October 6th at 3 p.m.
