There is going to be one heck of a birthday party this Saturday in Cardwell.
The Cardwell School 100th Anniversary Celebration is scheduled for August 4 starting at 10:30 a.m.
The events at the school will include time for visiting and reconnecting, PowerPoint pictures, timelines, family histories and a replica of the town and school in 1918 that was made by students last school year. Snacks and beverages will be provided, but those in attendance are encouraged to bring a sack lunch and lawn chair.
One of the many event organizers is Arcylle Shaw, who said she is super excited for the celebration and to be able to see many friends she has not seen in a long time.
Shaw credited other organizers including Patty Hanley, Donna Truckle, Mary Armstrong and others who have helped plan the festivities.
"It really should be a splendid time," she said.
Other daytime activities for those who pre-registered will also include the decoration of tiles to be placed on a wall in the school.
Those in attendance will also be able to purchase notecards of an original watercolor by Donna Truckle of the school.
Starting at 4:30 p.m., a dinner is planned at the Cardwell Pavilion.
