Living History
Important historical figures came to life Monday afternoon at the Cardwell School when third to eighth grade students hosted a Living Wax Museum.
Fifth and sixth grade teacher Ashley Moser said the museum is something she's wanted to do since she became a teacher, and decided to do it this year instead of a science fair. Moser said students were a bit intimidated by the science fair last year and the living museum has been a fun change. The students were asked to pick a historical figure they admire, and had to put together a speech, costume, and back drop for the event.
Each time a community member or family member dropped money into a cup at their section of the museum, the student had to give a speech as their historical figure with the length being determined by their grade level.
"They've had a lot of fun," Moser said about the project.
The event also served as a way to earn money for the upcoming 100th year celebration of the school. The money earned from the students and a bake sale will go to the supplies for the building of a scaled model of Cardwell from 1918.
