Grant money could be used towards updating press box

For the second straight year, the Whitehall School Districts have received a $1,000 grant from Northwestern Energy.

At a school board meeting last week, Superintendent John Sullivan said they could possibly use the money for a new press box at the school. Sullivan stated the money last year was used for the project to replace the bleachers at the football field.

Sullivan also gave the board an update on the new activity bus that was purchased in the April of 2017. Sullivan said the bus could be delivered as soon as mid February. Once the bus arrives, he said they will need to have a wrap placed on it and can hopefully can use it for the upcoming track season.

In other news, Sullivan said they are still looking for a special education teacher and currently have zero applicants. He would like to see the position filled by May.

Sullivan added they would be looking for a new high school head volleyball coach after the resignation of Lauren McDonald, who served in the position the past two seasons. The board also approved to renew their football co-op with Harrison High School for three more years.
