Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
A Whitehall resident received a prestigious honor last week.
Prior to the Trojans boys basketball game against Manhattan Christian, Chris Huerta was presented with the Montana High School Association/Stockman Bank Super Fan Award.
Huerta was nominated by Whitehall High School Principal Hannah Nieskens.
"Chris Huerta has supported Whitehall athletic programs for many years. You can find him at most any game for any sport seated at either half-court or half-field rooting on our Whitehall athletes! He is a positive example of sportsmanship and supports our teams no matter the outcome of their seasons. He is the true definition of Super Fan!" Nieskens wrote in her nomination letter.
According to the nomination form, "Super Fans are those fans that have supported high school activities in special ways such as: Supporting all activity participants including coaches and officials; Proudly representing their community at extra-curricular activities; Promoting good citizenship in extra-curricular activities; Longtime attendance at regular season contests and/or post season events.
Joy Smith, who has four kids currently involved with sports at the school, said she has known Huerta for a really long time and he is always willing to support the local kids.
"He's a great guy, one in a million," Smith said.
