Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
For the past 30 years, the Montana Preservation Alliance has played a prominent role in saving the state's historical places, traditional landscapes, and cultural heritage. This Saturday, the MPA is teaming up with the Powell Family of Cardwell, and area businesses for a "Barn Raising" event. The benefit collaboration will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Powell's Ranch located at 118 Cemetery Road in Cardwell.
According to local ranch owner Bill Pullman, who is involved with the benefit, the event will not only be used to secure the future of the barn built in 1910 as a working component of the ranch, but also to create a television pilot to showcase communities working together to preserve their special history.
Pullman spoke glowingly of the Powell's barn that has been called a "sister barn" to the "Brooke Barn" currently used for the Jefferson Valley Museum, and said it has very unique details you don't often see. He encouraged residents to come out with gloves and their hands ready for all levels of work including painting, scraping, building, digging, cleaning and window restoration. He added those who attend will also be able to work with Master Carpenter Al Williams.
Pullman said the event would conclude with a celebration dinner at 4:30 p.m.
Along with the MPA, the event is being sponsored by Breining Homes, Pullman North Ranch, Livingstone Construction and Weddings and More.
