Grant benefits K-8 students

A grant received late last school year will be a boon for Whitehall students in the upcoming school year.

According to physical education and health teacher Robyn Smith, the schools received a $250 "One Class at a Time" grant to purchase playground equipment for K-8 students. Smith said they were able to purchase such things as basketballs, footballs, jump ropes, Frisbees and various age-appropriate equipment that will get kids moving.

Smith added the program is sponsored by KXLF and Montana Tech, and said her class received a surprise visit form the Tech Oredigger who presented a "big ole honking check".

"Now the kids have something to encourage movement, increase their heart rate, instead of just walking around," she said.
