Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

County Commission Update

Hi Folks,

At last week’s regular meeting, we signed a contract with the First Boulder Valley Bank for them to provide banking services to the County. We approved Resolution 25-2017 which provides for a loan of about $300,000 from the Metal Mines Account to the South Tax Increment Financing District to cover some infrastructure needs. We also approved Resolution 26-2017 which provides a loan of about $80,000 to the North TIF District for infrastructure needs.

We signed MOU’s with the Montana Wool Growers and the Montana Stock Growers for predator control. These funds are paid by the sheep growers and stock growers.

We are in the process of getting this year’s budget in place. Our preliminary budget hearing will be on August 29 and the final adoption will be a week later. Our taxable value is up a little from last year. Some of the increase came from some rather large increases in individual and business’s taxable values. We are looking at some of our non-tax revenue to see if we can possibly reduce our mill levies some from last year.

FYI: Will Rogers: “You’ve got to go out on a limb sometimes, because that’s where the fruit is.”
