Donation brings power to pavilion

Thanks to a generous donation from the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine, there is now power at the pavilion located at Legion Park in Downtown Whitehall.

The mine donated $4,800 to pay for electrical work at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Pavilion that is owned by the Town of Whitehall. The Whitehall Council approved a request for the electrical work at a meeting July 16.

Whitehall Chamber Treasurer Jill Dove said prior to electricity going in at the pavilion it was difficult to host events on that side of the park.

"The chamber has burned up generators in an effort to supply electricity to band equipment and the refrigerated truck. Running extensions cords from the Fire Station for electricity was also difficult because the breaker tripped often," Dove said. "Now that electricity is at the pavilion sound equipment and refrigerated trucks can easily be plugged right into the pavilion without an issue. It opens up the doors for more great events at the pavilion such as hosting bands, weddings and having Christmas lights on that side of the park."

Brandon Kidwell of K4 Electric completed the work and stated at the July Council meeting he would complete the project in a manner that will make it available for future expansion such as lighting.
