JLDC awards later this month

The Jefferson Local Development Corporation Annual Dinner and Awards will take place Wednesday, August 30 at the Whitehall Community Center.

The theme for the 2017 event is Blue Jeans, Boots & Bandanas. The social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m.

JLDC Manager Micky Zurcher said the evening should be pretty relaxed and a good chance for people to get together.

She also stressed the importance of recognizing outstanding supporters throughout the community. One of this year’s recipients will be the Star Theater, who is set to receive the Community Improvement Award. Zurcher said the Theater has really worked hard to make their part of the main street corridor shine.

New to this year’s event will be a best-dressed contest. To be considered for the prize, those in attendance must wear all three items within the theme (Blue Jeans, Boots, & Bandanas.)

Winners will be chosen by popular vote and announced at the end of the business awards ceremony.
