Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks

Thank you to the Star Theater for the wonderful donation of $400 to the Friends of the Library! I promise we will put the funds to good use on one of the many projects that are still in the planning stage!

Summer reading is done for the year. It was great to watch 148 readers log 100,130 minutes for the eight weeks. Patrons from toddlers to seniors read their favorite books, magazines, and electronic readers to earn three levels of prizes. Great job to all!

As the staff begins to move toward fall (yes already!), computer classes are open for registration. There will be Beginning, Advanced, and Advanced 2 classes starting in September. If you have taken any of the computer classes at the Library and wish to advance to the next level just call and register. I have many people signed up from last spring but if you are not sure you are on the list just call 287-3763 to check or register.

Also starting this fall is a beginning watercolor class. The class will be limited to 15 people and all supplies will be provided by the Library. If you would like to try your hand at this medium just let us know. Advanced classes will be starting in September again at their regular time on Wednesdays.

The History Book Club is reading “Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West” by Stephen Ambrose. We have changed the meeting time this month to August 21 at 6:30 due to the Shakespeare in the Park on August 28. This way everyone will be able to enjoy both great programs.

The Mystery Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, August 15 at 3:30 p.m. If you love to discuss your favorite mystery writers and their latest works, come join us.

As a special thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers we had this summer, the Library will be hosting a Thank You Tea in their honor. We depend on our wonderful volunteers to do a number of things around the Library and this summer was no exception. With our summer reading membership up from 66 to 148, this summer would not have functioned nearly as smoothly as it did without our amazing helpers!
