Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Frontier Days is just around the corner and it’s time to make your plans!
This annual event returns to Whitehall on July 28 & 29 and will bring many entertaining events to the community.
Friday we’ll get the ball rolling with Rocky Mountain Bank’s Customer Appreciation BBQ from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Jefferson Valley Fine Arts Show will be open in the Borden’s building from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will feature talented artists from all over the valley displaying a variety of media. Historic Tours are available at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, and will take participators on a learning adventure through Fish Creek Cemetery, Piedmont, Renova, and Pleasant Valley. The tours start and end at the Jefferson Valley Museum, tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Museum or the Chamber Office.
A Block Party will round out Friday evening, and we invite the entire community to join us. At 5 p.m. the Block Party will begin with the Stick Horse Rodeo at the Legion Park Gazebo. Karaoke will be showcased in the GSM Pavilion from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Bring something to share at the Potluck which will begin at 6:00. To ensure there is a variety at the feast, we’ve arranged this guideline- if your last name starts with A-G plan on bringing meat (hamburgers or hotdogs), H-M chips or buns, N-T desserts, and U-Z salads or sodas. The Beer Garden will be open from 5:30-9 and Live Music will be performed by Silversmith’s Mine from 7-9.
Saturday, July 29th is jam packed with activities! The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast at the Fire Hall from 6:30-10:30 a.m.
The Horseshoe Tournament is back this year, throwing singles only, signups will start promptly at 7 a.m. at the pits. A range of vendors will be open on on Legion Avenue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you missed the art on Friday, you’ll have another chance to view Jefferson Valley artists in the Borden’s Conference Room from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Montana Treasure’s parade will begin promptly at 11 a.m., line-up on D Street at 10:30 a.m. Parade applications are available for download on the Whitehall Chamber website.
Plan on lunching at the GSM Pavilion at The Chamber BBQ sponsored by Golden Sunlight Mine. The BBQ starts at Noon and will feature Live Music by Silversmith’s Mine and New Realm Duo. Basketball courts will open on Legion Avenue at 12p p.m. and will host 3-On-3 games as well as a variety of basketball contests until 6pm. Bring your basketball and show us what you’re made of! Bounce houses and garnet panning for kids will be open from 12 to 4 p.m., again on Legion Avenue, and the Kids Tractor Pull will start racing down Legion at 1 p.m. If you’d rather beat the heat, meet at the Library for Kids’ Crafts from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Jefferson Valley Museum will again host their gab fest from Noon to 4 p.m. , and while you’re there catch a ride on one of the Historic Tours that take off at 1, 3, and 5 p.m. And finally you’ll want to plan to stick around for Broncs & Barrels at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds beginning at 7 p.m. Golden Sunlight Mine, Split Diamond Ranch, and many other sponsors have made it possible to bring back the World Class Bucking Horse Association for another great year where the cowboys and horses will compete for fame and cash. From there, you may as well just follow the crowd on over to Division Street where Generations Salon and Whitehall A&W/KFC will host an all-time favorite- a community wide Street Dance. King Friday will begin playing at 9 p.m. Follow the Whitehall Chamber on Facebook for last minute updates and additional details for any and all of these fantastic events.
