Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
An all-state performer in both cross country and track, 2017 Whitehall High School graduate Hunter Flynn will be continuing his career on the collegiate level.
Flynn recently signed to compete in both cross country and track at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Flynn will receive a $2,000 per year athletic scholarship at the NAIA School. He has also received an academic scholarship at the school.
"I was very excited to find out that I would receive a scholarship to DSU, I get to do what I love and they will help me pay for tuition, that's pretty awesome," Flynn said.
He was originally contacted his sophomore year by the head cross country couch at DSU and has been talking with him the past several years.
"I felt that the coaching staff really truly cared about me and my successes. And from the start I knew that I would be in good hands if I went to Dickinson," Flynn said.
Looking to his first year at the school, Flynn said his goal is to be a top seven runner for the team that are the places that will be added together for a team score.
"Honestly, it's going to be a whole different world in college and I'm just going to give it my all for the team and see where it takes me," he said.
