Between the Stacks

Summer Reading is off to a great start and this week even more exciting programs are in store for our readers. Monday the Countdown to Kindergarteners will be exploring letters and the alphabet. They are working on making a line, following directions, cutting with scissors, writing their names, and more. Story time has moved to 9 a.m. on Wednesdays, followed by the regular “Building a Better World” summer reading programs.

This Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. the Christensen School of Dance will be here to show off their steps, explain the different dance types, teach a few moves, and more. Allissa and her dancers will be demonstrating different types of moves as well as tumbling types.

Thursday this week is the first meeting of the Fantasy Rangers for grades 5-8. We will be discussing new fantasy books, bringing favorites to share and working on different types of fantasy crafts for those who really enjoy creating their own world.

Afternoon at the Movies will be next Thursday at 2:30 p.m. We have received many new movies and the Thursday afternoon group will get to see them first before they are out for the general public. Movie afternoons will alternate weekly with the Fantasy Rangers.

Tai Chi is still going strong on Mondays at 9:00 a.m. If you would like to come and join the group, new members are always welcome. Just wear comfortable clothes and get ready for a low-impact workout with this ancient art form.

Origami with Keiko is also continuing through the summer on Fridays at 4:00 p.m. The Library supplies everything you need to create beautiful and amazing works of paper art. Everyone is welcome and the group consists of everything from children to seniors.

Drop by the Library and pick up a calendar for a complete listing of programs and events. Summer hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 287-3763.
