Aila Rose Thompson West

Aila Rose passed away at her home in Whitehall on May 11, 2017.

She was born in Butte May 28, 1922 to Peter James Thompson and Aila (Hughes) Thompson. Aila Rose attended Butte Catholic Schools and graduated from St. James School of Nursing in June 1943.

Nursing was her life long passion and private duty was her calling.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Amos (Tiny) West; sons Kenneth, Edward and Peter; sisters Grace Ransom and Mary Lowney; brother Sam Thompson; and best friend and sister-in-law Marie (Toodie) Evans.

She is survived by son Timothy (Fran); daughter MaryJane (Curtis Smith); sister Patsy (Ted) Leskovar; brother-in-law Dave Evans; sister-in-law Dorothy Thompson; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins

Services are Tuesday, June 13 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 107 2nd St. E, in Whitehall. Recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
