Montana Mule Days next week at Whitehall Rodeo grounds

The 33rd annual Montana Mule Days is coming to Whitehall.

A presentation of the Montana Longears Association, the popular family-friendly event is scheduled to take place June 9-11 at the Whitehall Rodeo Grounds. It is Montana's only mule and donkey show.

Event organizer Tara Price said the event is for everyone in the family; and participants will not only have the opportunity to take halter, packers, equitation and fun gaming classes, but they will also be able to watch popular events like log pulls and chariot racing.

Price mentioned the event is not a rodeo; instead it is a three-day show with a variety of events to both enter and watch. Over 130 classes will be offered at the 2017 show.

The event has been in Hamilton the past several years, and Price hopes the new venue in what she called a central location close to I-90 and I-15 will draw in the crowds. She added last year people from Canada, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming all participated at the event.

The log pulls are scheduled to take place Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m., and the Chariot Races are slated for Saturday, June 10 at 6 p.m.

Price added there would be a variety of vendors at the event. The doors are scheduled to open at 8 a.m. and the daily cost is $5 per person. A three-day pass can also be purchased for $10. For more information, or for entry forms go to http://www.montanamuledays.com.
