Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

For Your Information

I saw a really cute picture on Facebook. It was Kyle Glaus hanging onto a tree with his fiancé, Krista, pulling on his legs. The caption reads, “The Hunt is Over”. Their wedding plans are for later this summer. I have kidded Kyle about marrying an old, rich, widow. Krista is none of those, but she definitely is a ‘keeper’. Congratulations. Hey, Kyle, God says in Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD”.

The Armstrong ranch on Armstrong Road hosted its annual Armstrong picnic. The crowd included folks from Dillon, Helena, Kalispell, Butte as well as, Idaho and Utah. The celebration was potluck and no one went hungry. Saturday was the big day and along with the feasting, Peggy Armstrong was honored as the oldest family member there. Her 90th birthday was celebrated a little early, but many well wishes were passed along to her.

Pinochle must have been exciting last Wednesday. Florence Weyer had 1,000 aces and Mary Gustin had 1500 trump and yet neither of them placed High. That was won by Marion Poff. Second went to Gladys Ballard, Low to Joyce Held and Pinochle to Renee Webster. Martha Hanson was the hostess for the afternoon and Margaret Irish is scheduled to be next.

It’s the season for parties. Graduations abound and it seems that menus of all sorts enticed guests as they ‘party hopped’ to make sure that everyone was congratulated. One celebration in particular was for Andrew Simon, the youngest of Jackie’s and Ed’s children. I understand that they had a roasted hog. A great menu! Along with graduations, there must have been hundreds of folks that went to the hills and waterways for the Memorial weekend. The traffic was steady on Highway 359!

The Jefferson Valley Museum opened with Catherine Ellerton greeting the first visitors for the 2017 season. This is the first time without Roy Millegan. He and Vera celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary with dinner out at a ‘fancy’ restaurant in Las Vegas, where they now reside. Roy gets a lot of questions asked from volunteers at the Museum. What would we do without his amazing memory!!?

Dixie Harrington, her two daughters Kym and Krista and granddaughter, Brea, spent two weeks in New York. Talk about a dream of a lifetime. Broadway shows, especially Wicked and Anastasia, were the best! They even got to back stage and see how all of the props are established and came home full of ideas for the Dance School they own in Butte. Dixie said they walked about 9 miles everyday!!! They crammed as much sight seeing into the time there as they possibly could. So much to see - the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, just to mention a few. Plane connection got a little ‘iffy’ and they ended up driving the last leg of the trip just so they could get home. The big city and all of its trappings and population was a great visit, but Dixie was sooo glad to get home to her haven in Cardwell.
