Editorial: Counting the days and making the days count

In less than two week students at Whitehall High School will be graduating during a May 28 ceremony.

After four long years in high school they will be moving on to college, the workforce, or spending some time figuring out what they want to do as they transition into adulthood.

The Ledger would like to first and foremost congratulate the students graduating and wish them well into the future. We would also like to tell them to enjoy and cherish the last few days with their classmates. With social media it is a lot easier to keep in touch with classmates, but ultimately a lot of people will drift apart in the coming years. The students have made enough memories in the last four years to last a lifetime, and as graduation inches closer; there is plenty of time to make more lasting memories. Of course many of the students are probably eager to be done and have some senioritis, but the end of the school year will still provide a lot of fun including the Chemical Free Senior Party.

The school sign that sits near Town Pump has a quote that says, “Don’t count the days, make the days count”. This is very fitting for the group of seniors who still have a chance for a several more days of bonding. It’s no secret kids don’t always get along, but in the last few days of 12th grade, classmates often come together in unison. Let’s hope the Class of 2017 comes together in the next few weeks for some magical moments.

We would also like to tell the seniors that they don’t have to figure out what they want to do with their future right away. There will certainly be some students who have already made plans and are eager to step foot on campus or at a job, but there will also be some that don’t have a clue what to do. That is perfectly fine, that decision doesn’t need to be made right away, just figure out something to do that makes you happy. Next week, the Ledger will publish a special graduation edition with more information about the Class of 2017. It’s always a fun edition to publish so readers can learn a little bit more about students and see senior pictures of class members.

Good luck to you all, we’re proud to call you Whitehall Trojans.
