Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

For Your Information

It couldn’t have been a more perfect morning for God to display His power and majesty. The 70 to 80 people that gathered on Sunrise Hill for Easter Sunrise Services didn’t have to brave the elements and they didn’t have to wait long for the sun rays to flood the clear, blue sky. What an entrance she made! Christ’s resurrection is as certain as the sun rising every morning and with that, His promise of life with Him to those who trust their lives to Him. What a hope! As the angel told the women who came to the tomb that first ‘Easter’ morning, “He is not here. He is risen as He said.”

I thought for a while this past week that I was going to have to use my snow shovel. Before I got up the ambition, the snow had melted off the deck. I think it’s ok to store it now.

Mrs. Kyla Simon put together the Spring Concert and from what I was told, it was really great, with an ‘80’s theme. “She is a wonderful asset to the school”, one teacher was quick to say. During the Parent Read-a-thon, the adults were sitting on the floor here and there with their child - reading. It was quite a day: the Book Fair, an Easter egg hunt and the read-a-thon.

Big changes are in store at the Whitehall Pinochle Club. Patti Strozzi, a regular has sold her house and will be moving to the Bozeman area soon. Her residence has been for sale for a while and now she will be closer to her daughter, Darcy, and also to her weekly dancing. (It is great exercise.) Also, Don and Judy Simmons have sold their home on Parrot Ditch and have plans to relocate in Oklahoma. Judy has been a regular and Don, a faithful substitute. They will be missed. Kathy Clark will become a regular, but one more is needed. So, if there is someone out there that would like to join them, let someone at the Senior Center know.

This past session of cards, Joyce Held hosted. Don Simmons won High; Florence Weyer, Second; Lucile Buchanan, Low; and Joyce Held, Pinochle. Don Simmons and Erv Hedegaard were the guests. Marion Poff will hostess next.

Don’t forget the Garage Sale to be held at the school on April 29th and 30th. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 29th, and from 8 a.m. to Noon on March 30th. The proceeds will go towards the 5th and 6th grades activity fund and also help purchase tables for the hot lunch program. That addition to the school seems to be working well and benefiting the students. Garage Sale items are still being received and Mrs. Moser is the person to contact. She can be reached at 406-498-5205.

There were many family celebrations going on over the weekend - too many to print. Afternoons were filled with food, fun and long naps.

Re-arranging displays seems to be a never ending process at the Museum. Ron Hunt built a hanging display case for a collection of award dolls given to Shannon McClure by the Avon Company and they have made their way to the Museum. They are beautiful and are a complimentary addition to the North room (we like to call it the ‘Hunt’ room, because that is how it got built and finished). The Museum will be opening for the 2017 season on May 27th. It is full of history and fun things to see and bring family and visitors to tour.
