Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The History Book Club will be meeting to discuss “Paris” at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24, in the basement.
Next month we will be reading “The Immortal Irishman: The Irish Revolutionary Who Became an American Hero” by Timothy Egan to go along with our celebration of the “Erin in Exile” exhibit. It was the 2016 Montana Book Award winner, presented by the Montana Library Association this past month in Billings. Egan previously won the National Book Award for his history of the Dust Bowl, “The Worst Hard Time”.
Mark your calendar on May 6 for the opening of the “Erin in Exile” exhibit. The Friends will be providing tarts, brownies and other treats for the evening reception on the main floor from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The panels will be on display until the last week in May when they move on to Missoula.
May calendars will include special programming during the month to complement the exhibit, including a special night of Irish music.
Our volunteers are critical to the amount of programming and other library events the staff may plan.
For every book they cover, poster they create, DVD they shelve, the staff is able to do other things. If you would like to volunteer at the Library just stop by and talk to us. There are a large variety of things that volunteers may do to get materials out to the public sooner.
They also assist with the many duties and activities which accompany the summer reading program during June and July.
Also happening during May 1-7 is Children’s Book Week. This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories” and the Library will be celebrating with music, crafts, and stories from different countries during story time. This is a great month to read to your children or have them read to you! Fairy tales are a terrific way to introduce children to different cultures and customs.
The Library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
