Lady Trojans show promise at Great Falls Tournament

Competing in just their second event of the year at last week's Great Falls Tournament, Whitehall High School tennis coach Kerry Sacry was very happy with the way his team fared.

"Everyone played well. Very pleased with the performance," Sacry said.

Monica Sepulveda is showing she will be a force to be reckoned with during her senior campaign.

Sepulveda was a perfect 5-0 at last week's Great Falls Tournament, picking up wins against opponents from Harlem, Chester-Joplin-Iverness, Simms, Fort Benton and Fairfield. Sepulveda did not lose a set in two days of action.

"Great wins for Monica. She beat everyone's best," Sacry said.

The longtime coach also lauded the play of Kyeli Ostler who lost several close matches at the tournament. Sacry said she competed well in Great Falls.

The Lady Trojans were able to pick up one team victory at the tournament with a 5-1 triumph over Harlem. Sepulveda, Britney Welker, and Isabel Evans all won singles matches.

The doubles teams of Evelin Ramirez and Amber Murish, and Alyssa Frankenstein and Alicia Konold were also victorious.

Whitehall and CJI ended their match Friday with a 3-3 tie. Sepulveda won her singles match, and the Lady Trojans picked up two wins by forfeit.

Whitehall was defeated 4-2 by Simms. Seuplveda and Welker both picked up singles victories.

On Saturday, Whitehall lost a 5-1 match to Fort Benton. Sepulveda picked up the lone victory. The Lady Trojans also dropped a 5-1 contest to Fairfield.
