Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
I need to begin by doing some housekeeping. This is my attempt to make the “workers” of the town hall happy. I need to state I am a resident of Madison County living in Whitehall.
Now, my response to the Mayor of Whitehall. Your office workers say, I should not have any say about Whitehall because I live in Madison County. However, you do take my tax monies. Well, why should you have anything to say about the District? Thanks to you, Whitehall is not part of the District.
Nowhere in the letter, did I read that the mayor accepted any responsibility for the town’s current situation. If it was not for his personal vendetta against the “original” Whitehall Ambulance “volunteer” squad, he would still have the best squad in the state.
The mayor’s facts about the petition failing are not the truth. The petition was stopped because two people who worked for the town stole the petition from the Corner Store. They then brought the petition to the town hall. Employees of the town hall made copies of the petitions and called people who signed the petitions to get them to change their decisions. This was totally illegal! This action alone stopped the petition. At no time did the petition fail! The facts are the facts!
If you call Bonnie Ramey you will find out that landowners will be charged only If there is a home on or business on their property. The mayor also stated “the town residents are who will bear the burden of paying for the current ambulance barn if the district is formed”. What happened to The Beacon of Hope paying for the barn after 3 months like you stated in the town meeting? Where was the mayor’s concern when he proposed a budget for the Whitehall Ambulance that was at least twice the amount of what the ambulance brought in the previous year? Why did he allow the budget to then go into debt for over $260,000.00? Why did he lease the barn and all the equipment for $1.00 a month for 3 months? If the mayor or the council had any concerns for the people living in the town, why did they from the start refuse to discuss the district? Why did they say Whitehall would not be part of the district? Why did you treat a volunteer crew with such disrespect? After you lost your crew how could you vote to pay $15.00 a hour 24-7 for three people to live in the barn? Where was your business plan to pay for that! Mr. Mayor, you and the council must live with your bad decisions!
Whether the District passes or not it should be up to the people who vote. The mayor and town council have a history of not listening to the people. Remember you were voted in by the people and you can be voted out the same way! We the people in the county want a vote, pass or fail! You have no say in the county vote.
Mr. Mayor, because of your actions you are where you are now! If the vote does reach Madison County, my vote will be yes. I will pay the cost gladly to have the best ambulance in the state, Jefferson Valley EMS & Rescue.
