For Your Information

There is a genealogy society that meets the third Thursday each month to gain knowledge and learn about resources available to dig for information not only for themselves, but for others looking for the past histories of their families. Recently, they enjoyed a presentation at the Heritage Center in Boulder from a lady from the Historical Society on local Cookbooks. It was sponsored by the Heritage Center with intrigue in an area that most of us don’t think about. There is a wealth of information available at the Center. Family cookbooks or organization cookbooks are a treasure trove of history. People’s names can be researched and who knows what one might find. To become a member of the Genealogy Society, call Connie Sims at 287-5117.

Gladys Ballard was the whole show at the Pinochle Club last week. She hosted, placed High and won Pinochle. Florence Weyer won Second and Marion Poff was Low. Erv Hedegaard was the lone guest and Joyce Held is scheduled to hostess next.

For Meredith Goertz it’s like coming home. Her mother, Claire Best, was in need of a little TLC, so Meredith came from her home in Strathmore, Alberta to accommodate her. Meredith spent a lot of time in this area before she married and made a permanent move to Canada. (We used to tell people she was our ‘maid’ and my house hasn’t been that clean since.)

Kyra Armstrong brought many of her college friends to the ranch for a branding experience! They must have had quite a time - all of them were sunburned. Chad and Trista turned the sale barn into a men’s dormitory for the weekend, while the girls bunked in the house.

The third quarter honor roll has been announced for the 5th and 6th grades. Eight students are on the “A” Roll. They include Blake Ritz, Ellis Mastel, Cyrus Tebay, Levi Whitehurst, Nakoah Falcon, Samantha Clay, Shawn Huss amd Wesley Biggers.

Dawn Lewton had the inspiration to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Morgan Shaw and Jennifer Jen with a wedding shower at the Cardwell Church following Sunday’s morning worship. Potluck provided the menu for the crowd. Everyone was stuffed with food to spare. A brief program/thoughts from Dawn and Cheri Shaw/a spotlight on the soon to be wed couple was an interesting insight into their knowledge of each other and gift opening ended the afternoon.

The Cardwell Church Easter Sunrise Service will take place at Patrick’s Hill off Highway 359. The service is set for 6:30 a.m. with breakfast to follow. Read more about this next week.

Charles Swindoll says in his book Rise and Shine, “It gives me a growing sense of inner peace to remember that God’s chapters are still being written. He has not yet said, ‘The End’.” In Lamentations 3:22 & 23, Jeremiah’s faith is expressed: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is YOUR faithfulness”
