Editorial -- Hall Banquet: A special night for Whitehall

This Saturday, the Whitehall High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct its second class at a special ceremony. The Ledger would like to encourage residents to attend the ceremony that will take place starting at 6 p.m. at the high school.

The first ceremony for the inaugural class last year was a special day for the community. It was great to see the former athletes, coaches, and teams come together. There were people who had not seen each other in years, and witnessing them catch up after a long absence made a great day even better.

Throughout the years, there have been many great Trojan athletes and coaches. They have brought the community a lot of joy and this hall of fame is a way to say thanks for their accomplishments.

Hall organizers should be commended for the work they have been able to do in just a couple of short years. They have spent countless hours getting this off the ground.

Anyone who was at the ceremony last year will know just how enjoyable to listen to the stories. It was a perfect way to proudly look back at some of the best in school history. It is also nice to walk into the doors to varsity gym and see a trophy case dedicated to the best of the best in Whitehall history.

The evening will also serve as a great way to learn more about the hall of fame. I’m sure people are wondering why a certain individual or team has been recognized, while another has not. More information about the nomination process will be explained and available. This will allow for people to nominate any team or individual they feel worthy. I’m sure at some point there may be a way to honor some of the amazing graduates who may have not played sports, but this is a wonderful start.

This is going to be a special night in Whitehall and I hope to see a big crowd.

Go TROJANS! JHS
