The Harlem Ambassadors comedic basketball team will be performing May 5 in Butte. Whitehall resident Earleen Lloyd has been working hard to bring them to Whitehall the day before the show.
She is currently trying to secure funding to set up an assembly for the Ambassadors May 4.
Lloyd said the Ambassadors promote staying in school and an anti-bullying message, as well as teaching kids to stay away from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
“They are professionals, skilled people who played basketball to get through college and have fun and games sharing with kids a positive message,” she said.
The cost of a Whitehall assembly would be $500, and according to Lloyd it would run from 45 minutes to an hour and would give local residents who can’t make it to Butte a chance to see them.
Lloyd has applied for several grants for the Whitehall assembly, but said so far none of them have come through.
“It’s all about families and community,” she said.
Anyone one would like to help sponsor the local assembly is encouraged to contact Rocky at the Butte Rescue Mission. The number is 406-782-0925.
