Patricia Duffey Joy of Whitehall is among the 70 Montana State University student achievers who were selected for this year’s edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American universities and colleges. The listing is based on academic success, community service, leadership and potential for continued success.

WHS Lady Trojans finished their regular Volleyball season with a 13-4 record after splitting the final two matches. Last Wednesday night Whitehall held off the relentless attack of Manhattan Christian to add the win to their record.

Spearheaded by local Girl Scouts who are celebrating the 80th birthday of Girl Scouts this year with the theme “Caring for the Earth,” and joined by the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H’ers, local youths are starting a community recycling effort. The project gets underway this Sat., March 7th. Residents are asked to bring their recyclable items to the Saddle Club building at the fairgrounds.

Student of the Week is Bridget Hoopes, a freshman at WHS who was chosen for her abilities in her English I class. Bridget is the daughter of Cliff and Patricia Hoopes of Whitehall.

A new club has been organized on the Whitetail – The Over-The-Hill Club. Members gathering for a sunrise breakfast on Sunday, March 1, were John Salsbury, son of the founder of Salsbury Laboratory in Iowa; Basil Brooke, the bull shipper; Bud, a never miss gopher shooter; Charlie Weber, wood butcher and miner; Pete, who wants to sell longer life insurance; Micky, a retired pork and bean merchant; Frank Crow, just an ole farmer; Vince Capp, the calf scour doctor; and Doug Salsbury, best cook and bacon fryer, was host.
