Trojan squads fall to Dillon

The Whitehall Trojan basketball teams stepped up a class in competition Tuesday, February 7 with games against Dillon.

For three quarters, the Whitehall (13-4) boys team showed they could hang with the top ranked and defending Class A state champs, but went cold in the fourth quarter of the 63-40 road loss.

After trailing 30 to 19 at halftime, the Trojans would outscore Dillon 18-16 in the third. The Beavers came back strong in the final quarter, outscoring Whitehall 17-3.

Andrew Simon led Trojans in scoring with 13. Wyatt Alexander had 10, Braden Larsen and Max Feight both finished with 7, Colton Noyes had two and Ryan Murphy added one.

The Lady Trojans also found themselves behind at halftime. Trailing 16-10 at the break, Whitehall would pull to within three at the end of the third. The Lady Beavers outscored them 13 to 7 on their way to a 35-26 victory in Varsity Gym.

Freshman Isabel Evans had a big night finishing with a game high 15 points. Kaya Welch and Ann Russell each added four.
