Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Throughout the season, the Whitehall High School Wresting team has showed it is among the best Class B/C teams in Montana. This Saturday they'll look to prove it again at the Southern B/C Divisional Tournament in Ananconda.
"They boy's have been working towards the next two weeks all year. They are focused and peaking right now," coach Steve Sacry said. "The tournament is in Anaconda and many Whitehall people are planning on attending. It will be an exciting day and I anticipate the boys will do great."
The Trojans are coming off a week that saw many members of the team having to miss time due to illness. After having a couple sit out on senior night last Tuesday in Varsity gym, Sacry said only three were able to compete Friday at Butte Central.
In Tuesday action against Deer Lodge and Boulder, every Whitehall wrestler competing picked up a victory. Sacry said Mike Wilkinson and Connor Johnson each won their two matches by pin. Riley Forcella also had a pin for Whitehall. Adrian Bright was the busiest for Whitehall with three matches. Sacry said Bright was able to get one win by pin over one of his divisional rivals from Boulder. Kayden Howser pinned his first opponent, and had a close 4-3 loss in his other match. Dawson Hoerauf also picked up a victory by pin.
Sacry said only Wilkinson, Howser, and Hoerauf were able to compete Friday in Butte. He said Wilkinson lost to an opponent from Dillon and a heavier wrestler from Butte High School.
"While he lost his matches, his never give up attitude was evident," Sacry said.
It was a great day for Howser, who won the High Point Award for the week after two third round pins. Sacry added Hoerauf easily pinned his opponent from Dillon.
