Ladies lose tight game to Big Timber

For the second time this season, the Whitehall High School girl's basketball team and Big Timber locked horns in a an epic battle.

After trailing the entire first half last Friday night, the Lady Trojans roared back in the second half, but their valiant effort fell just short in the 37-36 loss. Two weeks ago the Lady Herders picked up a 36-33 win in Varsity Gym.

Whitehall girl's coach Herman Gerving said the Lady Trojans need to come out stronger and not let the other team get the lead.

He said the key to this will becoming more consistent on offense.

Isabel Evans led the team in scoring with 11. Dorothy Mastel had eight, Bryn Welker added five, Ann Russell and Kaya Welch both finished with four, and Rachel Smith and Mesquite Melton both finished with two points.

In their game Saturday, Whitehall fell 56-33 to a strong Three Forks squad.

Whitehall will look to get their second league win of the season Thursday night in Manhattan. The Lady Trojans already own a victory this season over the Lady Tigers. Saturday they will host Class C Gardiner.

Gerving said it will be great to get back in their own gym after three straight on the road.
