Super Bowl party planned for teens

Jefferson County, the CARE Coalition, Jefferson County Tobacco Prevention and Jefferson County DUI Task Force will be holding its second annual Super Bowl Party for teens at Jefferson High School on Sunday, February 5th from 4:00 p.m. until the game is over. The party is open to all JHS students. Pizza, snacks, drinks, and desserts will be provided and prizes will be given away all evening. The prizes will include TVs, popular electronics and gift cards.

This year an invitation is extended to Whitehall High School students as well. The hope is this will open the door to having a Super Bowl Party in Whitehall next year. Students, please look for posters at Whitehall High School for more details.

This event allows the DUI Task Force, Tobacco Prevention and CARE Coalition members to interact with the teens and show them that they can have a good time without alcohol, tobacco or other drugs. The goal is to reduce underage drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and to educate the youth about the importance of seat belt use. The game will be displayed and watched in the north gym of the High School.

Teens are encouraged to wear their favorite team gear, to bring blanket or pillow and asked to bring two non-perishable food items as admission. The food items will be collected and donated to the Jeffco Food Share.

Additional donations of prizes and gift cards from local businesses are encouraged. Adult chaperones are welcome, and if you would like to help or donate drinks, cookies, chips, and prizes, please contact Barb Reiter, 461-3618 or Courtney Atkinson, 465-2453.
