Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Powells hosted a houseful of well-wishers in honor of Nolan Murphy’s 70th birthday! No one would believe that Nolan has lived that many years. Today, his cattle herd is limited and his dry land farm stills lies in Millegan Canyon and Shoddy Springs areas. Nolan still loves to watch basketball and spends a good deal of time with Breakaway Youth Ranch where he serves on the Board of Directors. He has been the treasurer of the Cardwell Community Church for 30+ years.
Rebecca Joy received confirmation of her dream when she was called by Senator Daines and Congressman Zinke telling her that her appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado was approved! She is anticipating playing soccer along with the studies, etc. Her older sister, Emily, is also having an experience of a lifetime student teaching in Honduras as part of her teaching degree. She will graduate from George Fox in Oregon in the Spring. Rebecca is a senior in Missoula.
Mike Hedegaard made his way to the Museum this afternoon to research information for the Sports Hall of Fame. Longtime coach, Hiney Lund was one of the inductees needing history. The 1980 Wrestling Team is very illusive, so if there are any of you out there that can help out with photos, etc., please get in touch with Mike by way of facebook. The 1976 Girls Basketball trophy is missing from the trophy case at the school - any knowledge about it would be greatly appreciated.
In 1997 a friendship between Evan Lewton and Morgan Shaw began and continues on today. Both chose aviation after high school - different colleges, but the same emphasis. Interestingly, they each chose this New Year’s time to give that special girl a diamond with a commitment for marriage. Evan’s is Laura, a nurse; Morgan’s Jen and she is studying nursing at MSU. Nope, no double wedding. On my refrigerator is a magnet that reads “A true friend is one of life’s greatest blessings.”
The second quarter of school ends this Friday and then only two months until Spring!
