Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
If you have ever had a desire to write and have others appreciate, critique, and make suggestions on your work; the Tuesday night Writer’s Group invites you to come and be a part of their fellowship. The first meeting was such a success that the group asked to meet weekly instead of once a month. The meetings will be every Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. Feel free to bring ideas you are working on, rough drafts, finished works, or writing helps. Bruce Ball is moderating the group.
Information Literacy comes in many forms. Last week I had the pleasure of sharing the concept of perspective with the students at the Cardwell School. They were given Life Magazines published from 1943 to 1945 and asked to find the perspective on different aspects of the publication. The students viewed American life during the Second World War and discovered how the advertisements, stories and even the pictures provided a definite point of view. Understanding perspective is one of the key elements in scholars gaining knowledge about which reference sources to use in writing term papers or any other informational presentation. This semester I will be also teaching the students about accuracy, currency, authority, relevance, and defining perspective.
