Between the Stacks

Are you running out of gift ideas, recipes for holiday gatherings, or decorating ideas?

The Library has many excellent resources for creating new traditions during the season. “Christmas from the Heart” from Better Homes and Gardens, “The Christmas Stocking Book” by Mary D’Alton, “Christmas Comfort & Joy” edited by Carol Field Dahlstrom, and “Christmas All Through the House” are all wonderful books to help with any holiday need.

If there are little helpers in the house, they might enjoy “Cookie Dough Fun” published by Publications International Ltd., “Christmas Chaos: Hidden Picture Puzzles” by Jill Kalz, or “The Santa Shimmy” by Christianna Jones. The Library also has a large selection of Christmas story books to choose from.

Story Time is full of holiday cheer this month. Donna Weldon will be here on December 14 to have a special Christmas musical story time. There will be singing, crafts, and stories to put the littlest reader into the holiday spirit. The last story time will be December 21 at 10:30 a.m. and will resume on January 4th.

Keiko will hold origami classes until December 16th. The group members meet at 4:00 on Friday afternoon and are always turning out beautiful works. I came into work to find a pair of little origami elf boots on my desk. Thank you Keiko!

With the earlier nights and colder weather, the History Changers discussion group and Book Club Bingo have decided to move to 4:30 p.m. in January.

The History Book Club will still meet at 6:30 p.m. as we have people coming all the way from Townsend to participate. If you would like to be involved in some great discussion come join us. Books are available at the front desk.

Just a reminder, the Library will also be participating in the Whitehall Christmas Stroll on December 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Friends of the Library will be hosting an open house with lots of goodies for the adults and students, while the little ones may visit Santa Claus.

The Library will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. that day. If you need a warm place to stop and rest for a while or just want to say hello to Santa just come on in.
