Local supporters of acquiring the Whitehall to Butte rail line to be used as a tourist railroad have until April 30, 1992, to develop a business plan and make a purchase offer, according to current owner Burlington Northern.

The task force, composed of Whitehall and Butte businessmen, and politicians, was formed this fall after BN said it was interested in abandoning the unused rail line and using the materials for repair on other lines.

The District III and IVA “Make It With Wool” contest was held in Helena. Whitehall’s Heidi Kinzer was the winner of the pre-teen division of the contest. Heidi is the daughter of Ken and Connie Kinzer of Whitehall.

In “Views from Whitehall Students:” From the Tia Kober Elementary - students were asked what education means to them: Eric Janacaro – 6th grade – “I like school because it opens you up to the real world. School is important because it gives you an education, and in the real world you need an education to get a good job to support your family.” Colene Dolan – third grade – “I like school because I like to read. I enjoy learning sign language. School is wonderful because we learn lots of things.” Katie Mabbott, first grade – “I like school because it teaches me a lot of stuff.”

Eleven Whitehall High football players end season taking all-conference honors: Scott Sacry, Shane Stack, Duston Jones, Cory Casagrande, Jon Schurch, Jody Ryan, Kevin Ellerton, Neil Lombardi, Teeje Jenkin, Seth Wheeler and B. J. Dorvall.

In Lady Whitehall Trojans activity - Michelle Jones breaks through Three Forks’ defense in last Friday’s district competition in Bozeman to add two to the Trojans’ scoring. Whitehall went on to beat the Wolves 63-53. Jones led the Trojans in scoring with a game high of 31 points.
