Jefferson County Commission Update

Hi Folks,

At last week’s regular meeting Resolution 37-2014 Creating Sunlight Business Park RMD was amended. Resolution 31-2016, Resolution Forming the Jefferson County Mental Health Local Advisory Council was approved.

Wednesday and Thursday I attended the Montana Counties Forest Summit in Missoula.

It was sponsored by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Montana Coalition of Forest Counties. I was on one of the panels Wednesday afternoon talking about the collaboration process that we are currently doing through the B-D Working Group that I am on. Thursday morning I led a discussion about how we could get the rest of the country educated about issues that we deal with in the west.

There doesn’t seem to be any easy answer. My suggestion is that the primaries for President should alternate and start on the west coast every other cycle. Currently, all the focus early on is on issues important to New Hampshire and other areas in the east and sometimes in the mid-west.

By the time any of the primaries are held out here, the candidates have pretty much been determined and western issues are kind of a brief aside note.
