Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Editorial: Trojans deserve packed crowd

This Friday night is a huge one for the Whitehall/Harrison High School football team.

They will be playing for a spot in the Class B playoffs that begin next week, and to finish the regular season with an impressive record of 8-1. They will also be honoring the nine seniors on the 2016 team prior to the game.

These are all great reasons to come and support the Trojans. There would be nothing better for them to run onto the field in front of a standing room only crowd.

The senior class has given fans so many memories on the gridiron. They need to play their final regular season home game in front of the biggest crowd in Whitehall history. They deserve it!

This team is special. They have a ton of talent, but they have more heart. They do not quit. If something bad happens, they bounce back. In their second game of the season, they had a rough first half against Anaconda, but this did not faze them. They finished the game strong and walked out a place many teams don’t fare well with a victory. In their sixth game of the season they trailed a tough Manhattan team for most of the game, but were able to pull within one with just moments left. Rather than settle for a tie, these kids wanted to go for two and win the game in regulation. That should say everything you need to know about them. They did not get the two-point conversion, but they gave everything they had on the field. Rather than get down about their lone defeat of the season so far, they bounced back the following week and scored 36 points in the first quarter. That again says everything you need to know about them.

They are relentless.

They have a plethora of talent at the skill positions, but also an offensive and defensive line that have been a huge part of their success.

Last week was a huge highlight for the team when they picked up a win at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. As great of a thrill that was, this team has unfinished business. This season is far from done and it all starts Friday night against a very good Townsend team.

If you haven’t made a game this year, show up for this one.

Like I said before, they deserve it.

Go Trojans!
