Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Editorial: Fundraiser huge to local center

It doesn’t matter if it’s a hot summer day or a cold January afternoon, the Whitehall Senior Center is always full of activity.

The center is such an important part of the local community, it’s value immeasurable. Seniors get together to eat, have a cup of coffee, participate in events, and many times just to visit and share stories.

This Friday the center will be hosting a fundraising event that will not only bring the community together; it is also integral to day-to-day operations.

The Fall Festival Haystack Dinner is scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 p.m. with the proceeds going to the center, V.A., and local food bank.

There are a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, and all of them are important. The local community has always been known for coming together and helping out time and time again. This particular fundraiser is of extreme importance as it helps the center with things like utility bills and repairs needed at the building located on Division Street.

There is no fee to get into the dinner, but the center will be accepting donations.

Each and every dollar raised will help the center continue to bustle with activity and give seniors a place to go throughout the year.

Friday night is often a time when families will go out to eat and spend time together. The dinner Friday is not only a way for them to do this, but to also give back to community. Jefferson Fresh Foods is helping provide the food so the center will not have too much cost associated with the event. Every dollar donated will help.

I’ll be taking my family Friday and hope they have a great crowd eager to help out a worthwhile cause.
