There will be wall-to-wall volleyball action this Saturday at Whitehall High School.
The annual Windy City Classic is set to begin at 9 a.m., and will feature eight teams and both junior varsity and varsity games.
Along with the Lady Trojans, the tournament will include teams from West Yellowstone, Boulder, Shelby, Choteau, Powell County, Harrison, Sheridan and Belgrade ("Froshmore" team).
Last week the Lady Trojans were able to pickup their first win of the season with a come from behind victory last Tuesday over Twin Bridges.
Whitehall came out of the gates strong winning the first set, 25-16. The Lady Falcons would answer back, picking up the next two sets, 25-11 and 25-17. The Lady Trojans bounced back and won the last two sets, 25-22 and 15-8.
Head coach Lauren McDonald said the Lady Trojans worked really hard and kept their heads in a tough game.
Monica Sepulveda had a big night for Whitehall with eight kills, five aces, two blocks and one dig.
Kaya Welch also had a strong game with eight assists and four aces. Sophomore Dorothy Mastel had four blocks, four kills, two digs and two aces. Mesquite Melton added four kills, two aces and one dig.
Whitehall continued it's strong play Thursday, but was unable to pick up the victory against a tough Manhattan team.
After dropping the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-15, The Lady Trojans got right back into the match with a 25-21 victory in set three. The Lady Tigers sealed with victory with a 25-16 win in set four.
McDonald said the girls played hard, and definitely gave Manhattan a run for their money.
Welch continued her strong play, and had a team high 18 assists against the Lady Tigers. Sepulveda added 13 kills, and Melton had 10 digs.
The Lady Trojans capped off a busy week Saturday with a three set loss (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) at Gardiner.
McDonald said it was a tough loss for the team.
"They weren't necessarily better, but we got outplayed," she said.
Melton had nine digs against Gardiner, Mastel had six blocks, Welch had eight assists and Sepulveda has seven kills.
