Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Editorial: Another great event coming to Whitehall

Last Saturday I had the chance to attend the cross-country meet hosted by Whitehall High School.

I was really impressed with how many people turned out for the event. There were a lot of local residents who showed up to cheer on the Trojans middle school and high school teams. The Whitehall High School cheerleaders also showed up to the event and cheered on not only their classmates, but everyone who participated. That was a job well done by the cheer squad.

It was a well-run meet and great job done by all the students, staff, and volunteers who made Whitehall look great.

As great as the support was last weekend, this week is another chance to get out and support another huge local event. The Whitehall High School and Junior High Rodeo is slated for Saturday and Sunday. This is another chance to get out and support kids who will give it their all. There are many sports where kids get the chance to have numerous times to compete in front of a home crowd. Rodeo really isn’t one of them. Members of the high school and junior high team travel all around the state, so having this home event is a big deal. They will not only get to sleep in their own beds, they will get to have friends, family, and community members cheering them on.

I would like to encourage residents to get out and support the local rodeo. There is a lot of work that goes into the event, and it would be great to have large crowds both Saturday and Sunday.

The weather forecast is promising for both days and there are some really talented area kids who are going to shine. Hope to see you there.
