Attendance up at 2016 Fair

Just a few days after the annual Jefferson County Fair, organizers are pleased with the turnout at the 2016 event.

"The 2016 fair was one of our best ever. We had a record-breaking number of people involved in many of our activities," fair board member Terry Minow said.

According to Minow, attendance was definitely up overall in 2016. She said good weather played a part, but she also heard how much people appreciated how affordable the fair and rodeo is for families.

"With a $2 parking fee, no admission fee to the grounds, free climbers and bouncy games for kids, rides on the carousel for a quarter, and reasonable rodeo admissions, it is a lot of entertainment and fun for very little cost," Minow said.

Along with the low cost, Minow said a new cover on the grandstand made the Wrangler Roundup, Kids Horse Show, and Boulder Rodeos a lot more comfortable for spectators.

Minow added the annual kids parade and fair parade both had more entries than usual, and on Saturday night the bard at the fairground was full of people dancing.

An increase in numbers was also witnessed at the Kids Stick Horse Rodeo and Roll in the Straw events.

Minow feels there was plenty of fun for everyone last week.

"People enjoy the live music, the kids events like the coloring contest, and the stick horse rodeo has quite a following. The Jefferson County Rodeo Association puts on a top-notch rodeo, and our arena facilities are some of the best in the state," she said.
