Music and art are the themes for September children’s programs. Butch Paquin will be teaching a watercolor class for school age children on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm and the library will be providing all of the supplies. Please call the Library to sign up for this set of classes so we may have enough paints and paper for everyone.
Donna Weldon returns on August 31st to do a special musical story time as I will be out of town for the day. She will be a regular story time provider on the second Wednesday of each month. Pre-school children are invited to join us every Wednesday at 10:30 for stories, crafts and finger plays!
I have had a request for a teen fantasy book club. If there is enough interest we will start one in October. If you are between the 7th and 12th grade and fantasy is your favorite type of book, stop by the library and let me know. I need ten interested teens to begin this new club.
The Adult Bingo Book Club cards are out! Come pick one up and see how many different squares you can complete by April.
Prizes will be awarded as the bingos come in and the first discussion group will be on Thursday, September 22 at 6:30 in the Library.
The biggest request we had on the community survey was for the Library to be open longer hours. In response to that, our new hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:30, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m., and Saturdays 1:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. The Cardwell School children will be in the Library on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00 to improve their library skills. The staff asks that the public be respectful of that time and not try to enter before 2:00 when the Library opens to the public.
Adult Coloring Break will begin Tuesday, September 6th at 2:00 so bring you favorite pictures, coloring medium and enjoy a fun, restful afternoon. This is a chance to meet new people, so if you are just moving into Whitehall please join us to make some new friends.
Music Jam and the Adult Water Coloring class will both resume in September. The Music Jam is open to any musician who likes to play their instruments in the company of others.
It will once again meet the second Thursday of the month at 6:30.
The Adult Water Color class will meet at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Library provides all of the materials for any artist or artistic want-to-be. We need ten people for the class to continue so if you are wanting to receive expert instruction and have a lot of fun, please call the Library at 287-3763 to let us know you are coming.
There are many new books and movies coming into the collection. Stop by and check them out!
