Trojan scrimmages, barbecue Thursday

After nearly a week of practice, local residents will get a chance to check out the Whitehall High School football and volleyball teams at their annual fall scrimmages.

The annual event is slated to take place Thursday, August 18 with the volleyball scrimmage starting at 4:30 p.m. The Whitehall/Harrison football team is set to take the field at 6:00 p.m. The Whitehall Booster Club barbecue will conclude the evening at 7 p.m.

Whitehall Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Dan Lacey said the scrimmages are a great way to start the year.

"Everyone is excited to have high school sports back and action again. It's a very exciting and upbeat time of year," he said.

Lacey added the scrimmage is huge for the football staff.

"It helps us understand areas we as coaches need to work on, as well as helps us identify our strengths and weaknesses as a team," he said. "It is really nice to have the team be able to understand what a game type day and atmosphere looks like for our team."
