The Whitehall High School Cross Country team will have one more regular season competition before the state meet next week in Kalispell. The Whitehall High School volleyball team ran into some strong competition last Saturday at the Manhattan Christian High School Tournament. The Lady Trojans finished the pool play event with a 2-6 record, picking up wins over Cut Bank (21-13), and Shields Valley (25-21). For the second straight week, the Whitehall High School Cross Country team went head to head with larger schools from across Southwest Montana last Saturday at the Butte Invitational. Senior runner Hunter Flynn once again showed he is one of the best in the state finishing 19th out of 154 runners with a time of 16:19.50. Recent changes to what once was the Whitehall High School Rodeo Club should net positive results for local competitors. The new Whitehall Rodeo Club was recently formed and unlike its predecessor, will operate outside of the local school district. Sponsor Jodi Icenoggle said by offering the club outside the school, home-schooled students would now be able to join, and the club would also like to include junior high students to get them started competing earlier. The Whitehall High School Cross Country team faced stiff competition at last Saturday’s Mountain West Classic in Missoula. The boy’s varsity race featured 410 runners from 65 high schools, many of them from Montana Class A and AA. Whitehall senior Hunter Flynn had the top time for the Trojans. The members of the Whitehall Junior High rodeo team shined earlier this month at the Montana High School Rodeo Association Junior High Rodeo. Competing in front of their home fans, Whitehall had several first place and multiple top ten finishes. Eighth-grader Garris Robertson had a great overall rodeo. His two-day average was good enough for first place in both calf roping and team roping with partner Gage Duncan of Belgrade. Prior to the start of Sunday's action at the local Montana High School Rodeo Association and Junior High Rodeo, Whitehall's Cole Dunagan was recognized as a senior class member competing at his last home event. Year in and out, local junior high and high school rodeo competitors and their families make numerous trips across the state. This weekend they won’t have to travel and get the chance to compete in front of a home crowd at the annual Whitehall High School and Junior High Rodeo.
