In a little over a month, the Whitehall/Harrison High School football season will take to the road to open their 2017 season. The Trojans open the season August 25 at Shepherd. The Gallatin Valley Outlaws got off to a strong start yesterday at the Montana-Alberta American Legion Baseball Tournament in Butte. The team that features Whitehall's Connor Johnson and Ryan Murphy picked up an 18-6 victory over the Livingston Braves. Johnson and Murphy each had two hits. Whitehall resident Brooke Smith has qualified for the world's largest rodeo. The soon to be senior at Twin Bridges High School will be competing in Reined Cow Horse at the 2017 National High School Finals Rodeo starting July 16 in Gillette, WY. A reclassification by the Montana High School Association has eliminated 11 Class B football teams. There will now be a total of 29 teams that have been split into four divisions. The Whitehall/Harrison High School football team will play in the eight team South Division. A newly hired head coach will bring a wealth of experience and a history of success to the Whitehall High School Girls Basketball team. Kelly Nieskens was recently hired to take over for Herman Gerving, who resigned at the end of the 2016-17 season.
