    It was a special night last Wednesday at Cardwell School for Avery Coombe, Judith Engler, and Westin Scheller who were all honored as eighth-grade graduates. In his Valedictorian speech, Coombe said there many been many memories made at the school, adding although the building is 100 years old, the school still has lots of lives to influence. Coombe said there are no popular groups at the Cardwell School, instead everyone is friends and this is a place that will always be close to their hearts....

    Voters in the Cardwell School District approved Tuesday a general fund mill levy to support operational costs of the school. In unofficial results, the ballot measure passed by a vote of 73 to 39. In other results from the May 8 vote, voters in Whitehall School Districts 4 and 47 filled two three year terms.     The Jefferson Valley Museum will open for the 2018 season on Saturday, May 26th at 12:00 PM. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide tours through the many sections of local history displays.     The Town of Whitehall is paying tribute to the citizens of Canada. A Canadian Flag was raised at town hall last week in remembrance of the 16 killed when a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior ice hockey team was involved in a crash in Saskatchewan.
