A driver survived a crash after the semi-truck he was driving plunged a reported 100 feet down a cliff face off Interstate 90 at 10 PM Monday, April 29. According to the Whitehall Fire Department, the driver was eastbound on Homestake Pass between Whitehall and Butte when the crash occurred. Responders said in a social media post that the truck had hit a guardrail. The semi-cab separated from the frame and rolled down the cliff while the rest of the truck stayed on the road. The Whitehall Town Council held a special meeting at 11 AM on Monday, April 29th, to finalize the proposed Infant-at-Work Policy submitted for approval in March. At the April meeting of the Whitehall School Board, held Tuesday, April 2nd, in the Elementary Library, much discussion of the upcoming 2024-2025 school year was had. Most importantly, changes to the Early Literacy Program. The Early Literacy program is a half-day program available to students who are age four by September 10, 2024. Jefferson Valley Emergency Medical Services and Rescue were joined by Ruby Valley EMS and Harrison Volunteer Fire Department for a two-day training at the Whitehall High School over the weekend. Over a dozen responders were trained, while another 10-15 volunteered as victims of a shooting within the school.
