    The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has released a Record of Decision for the Golden Sunlight Mines Inc.’s (GSM) amendment application to Permit No. 00065 for the proposed tailings reprocessing project. The Golden Sunlight Mine is located approximately five miles northeast of Whitehall, Mont. in Jefferson County.   • Rescuers recover body of hiker missing in the Beartooth Mountains

    Rescuers have recovered the body of missing hiker Tatum Morell. Tatum was discovered by climbers on Saturday, August 21 well below the Whitetail couloir. Two Bear Air and the Yellowstone County Sheriff helicopter worked together with Red Lodge Fire Rescue and the Carbon County Sheriff's office to recover her body from the rugged mountains.     Jefferson County Sheriff Craig Doolittle informed the Whitehall Ledger of a fatal traffic incident, which occurred Sunday, August 15 around 8 p.m. on Second Street in Whitehall. The victim, an adult male whose name has not been released, died shortly after receiving CPR at the scene. Doolittle said the incident, which is believed to have begun as a domestic situation which escalated into the involvement of a vehicle, is being investigated.
